Ad: “Serial Daters Confess!” Tupperware
Agency: Unknown
Why: She had me at “I am completely out of control.” What secret could this unassuming middle-aged woman possibly be harbouring? The spot quickly became a car wreck I couldn’t look away from. I needed to know what this strange assortment of “serial daters” had to do with Tupperware.
Will I buy what they’re selling?: What self-respecting woman doesn’t already have Tupperware in her cupboards? (I even broke my “no hen parties” rule to host the party myself.) Will this spot seduce me into getting in on the action again? I’d feel dirtier now than I did back then. And not a good dirty.
Besides, the connection between serial dating and “dating” a party is so forced that it’s unclear exactly what this spot is selling. I took the time to figure it out only because I hadn’t skipped the ad and therefore was bound to write about it here. But how many people will?
Nope, I’ll continue to get my jollies with my main squeeze, Rubbermaid.
