Growth of original digital video shows shift of advertising dollars away from TV toward online, while Snapchat continues to set a robust pace in video creation and consumption.
A study by the Interactive Advertising Bureau and GfK tracking consumer usage shows a shift toward original digital video. Unlike TV, online, and amateur video, which have been flat year over year, original digital video continues its steady growth to provide an alternative form of entertainment that more adults are turning to.

Advertisers plan to spend more than $10 million on digital and mobile video in 2016 — an 85% increase from 2014. Growth in digital video is resulting from increased use on social platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat, as well as the escalation of video content on publisher websites.

Snapchat video views are at 10 billion videos a day, with over a third of daily users creating 24-hour “Stories,” broadcasting photos and videos.
On a daily basis, Snapchat has over 100 million users spending an average of 25 to 30 minutes on it.
