Ad: “The 2014 Cadillac SRX Luxury Crossover: Stacy’s Mom,” Cadillac
Agency: Unknown
Why: Obviously it was the song, “Stacy’s Mom” by Fountains of Wayne, that stopped me from skipping this one. Takes me right back to 2003, when this song was, like, totally the S%!#.
Will I buy what they’re selling?: Ha, I wish. I don’t think I quite fit the upper middle-class single dad they were likely targeting with this one anyway.
When researching this spot, I was also disappointed to come across this ad from the early 2000s with an almost an identical format: Mom gets out of car, “Stacy’s Mom” playing, heads turn. The only difference is that the dudes turning their heads are pre-pubescent boys and they couldn’t care less about the car — it’s the Dr. Pepper they’re after.
So, Cadillac, it’s been done.

P.S. Wondering who the woman is? It’s former French model Magali Amadei.
